Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max is now officially on sale, and the early battery test results show that it’s a strong performer. So strong, that it’s easily beaten out the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
That’s according to new tests carried out by YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss who put both phones through the wringer to get a feel for how well the new iPhone would perform in terms of battery life.

According to the YouTuber’s simulated tests, the iPhone 17 Pro Max managed to run for 13 hours before it ran out of juice. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra gave in after a little less than 12 hours.
Notably, this test used the UK version of the 17 Pro Max, which includes a physical SIM tray. The eSIM-only model sold in the United States and some other markets has an even bigger battery, and probably lasted at least another half an hour extra as a result.
As 9to5Mac points out, this test was on a UK version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max which means that it’s the model with a SIM tray. The US models don’t have a tray, saving space for a bigger battery.
Apple’s biggest iPhones are normally good performers in terms of battery life thanks to their bigger batteries, so it’s perhaps no surprise that the iPhone 17 Pro Max has proven to be strong in that department.
