It might not be the most-used app on many people’s iPhones, but the INvites app is still a great way to invite people to events and more. And now it’s better than ever thanks to a new countdown feature.
The new app, version 1.4 and available for free in the App Store, adds a new countdown widget to the app’s collection of features.
The new widget works with any event that is scheduled for the future, so you can more quickly see how long you have to wait for that big get-together.
All you need to do is add the widget to your iPhone’s Home Screen and you’re off to the races. This new feature comes after Apple previously added support for new background options as well as the ability to add web links to individual invitations.
Because the Mac can now also make use of widgets that are installed on your iPhone, you can of course also add a new Invites widget to your Mac, too.
Honestly, I still don’t quite get Apple’s logic behind the new Invites app.
It’s not as private as iMessage, and nowhere near as full-featured as something like Evite.

While the Invites app is free to download, you do need to be an iCloud+ subscriber in order to actually send them to people. If you’re an Apple One subscriber, you’re already good to go. For everyone else, iCloud+ starts at just $0.99 per month.
