YouTube For Apple TV Update With Redesigned UI Rolling Out

Google has begun the process of rolling out a brand new redesigned YouTube app for Apple TV owners. Once in place, tvOS users will have access to a native YouTube app that offers design and feature parity with that of Google TV.

This particular redesign of the YouTube app for TV boxes isn’t exactly brand new.

The cogs do indeed turn slowly in large companies as Google started pushing this update out to the Google TV all the way back in November 2019 with some additional updates and design tweaks coming months later in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.

After a long period of inactivity, it seems that Google is ready to bring the redesign to other platforms and is currently in the process of drip-feeding the redesigned YouTube app to tvOS Apple TV users. The redesign for tvOS will ensure that Apple TV owners are using an app with a more modern interface and one that offers parity with other platforms. For standard YouTube users – basically, non-premium users who don’t pay a subscription – the redesign will likely also feel a large advertisement placement at the top of the app.

If you are an avid YouTube user and consumer on Apple TV, then it’s likely going to be a matter of exercising some patience. Google appears to be rolling this update out slowly with some users in Germany and the United States already seeing it. However, it certainly isn’t available to everyone; at least not yet.

The overall redesign of the app is likely going to resonate with most users who will appreciate the more modern, less boxy design. The extremely large advertisement, however, is likely going to produce some raised eyebrows as it does take up a lot of screen real estate when it’s in operation.
