This iPhone 8 Concept Bases Itself On Current Rumors

This new iPhone 8 concept bases itself on the many rumors surrounding Apple’s next smartphone, including a bezel-less OLED display, redesigned Home button, a stainless steel chassis and an additional “Pro” model. Here are the details.

Apple’s iPhone 7 is still fresh in the market, but rumors of the iPhone 8 and what it could offer are very much the order of the day. If history is any guide, then we may see a new iPhone around September time, meaning we are still around eight months away from seeing what Apple will celebrate the iPhone’s tenth anniversary with. If you want to see what a bit of guesswork amounts to though, you need wait no longer.

iPhone concepts have been around longer than the iPhone itself, and with the iPhone 8 capturing the attention, perhaps in part due to a somewhat disappointing iPhone 7 release, we have come across more than a couple of iPhone 8 concepts of late. One of those, courtesy of Handy Abovergleich, caught our eye. As it turns out, we’re suckers for some fancy artwork.

The crux of this concept is an updated camera system, a bezel-less design and an OLED display, at least two of which have been heavily rumored to this point.

Whether we will see a heavy update to the camera system so soon after the dual-camera was brought to the iPhone 7 Plus remains to be seen, but this concept has that same dual-camera setup coming to the smaller iPhone 8 as well as the Plus variant. We’d like that a lot, though space will likely be a limiting factor in such a move.

One thing we do strongly expect to happen this year is the first iPhone with an OLED display. The reproduction of deep blacks and vibrant colors is something that OLED technology excels at, and with the competition already very much on the OLED train, we expect Apple to finally join in.

Other highlights of this concept include an iris scanner, an all new Home button built right into the display, a stainless steel chassis sandwiched between a glass front and back, and the rumored “Pro” model with Apple Pencil support.

If this thing were real, I think I’d buy it. Who knows? Maybe we will, come September.
