In an official statement released by Microsoft, the Redmond based software giant has sold 175 million Windows 7 Licenses in one year since its launch which has helped them top Apple’s profits in this quarter. In contrast to last year’s revenue where Microsoft saw its first ever sales decline in history, this year, Microsoft is reporting $16.04 billion in revenue which is about 22 percent increase from the same period last year for the Q4 quarter which ended on June 30 2010.
Last month at E3, Microsoft refreshed its Xbox 360 lineup by releasing the all new super quiet Xbox 360 S. This model, which was introduced at E3 was basically a 250GB model with refreshed design, built-in WiFi-N, a dedicated port for Kinect (formerly Project Natal), and more. And as it was widely assumed and predicted, Microsoft today has confirmed that there is going to be a new Xbox 360 Arcade SKU with 4GB internal flash memory, and it will go on sale on August 3rd for US $199.99. Microsoft’s new and revolutionary Kinect for Xbox 360 controller with free Kinect Adventures game will be available in November for US $149.99, while the Xbox 360 Arcade + Kinect bundle will be available in this holiday season for US $299.99.
There is no question about Windows Vista being a PR failure for Microsoft. But so is iPhone 4 turning out to be one for Apple. Speaking at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference, the Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Kevin Turner called iPhone 4 a Windows Vista of Apple. "It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that.”, said Turner in his keynote address on Windows Phone 7 at Microsoft WPC. He further added:
As expected, Microsoft today at its Worldwide Partner Conference 2010 has announced the public availability of Windows 7 SP1 Beta, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Beta for users running the final RTM version of the respective operating systems.
We all thought that the HTC HD3 might be HTC’s first ever Windows Phone 7 handset, but it seems like all that is going to change. A recent leak from mobile operators in the UK shows a new handset named HTC Gold, which is slated to hit stores in November this year, and of course will be powered by Windows Phone 7.

Microsoft has finally released the official iPhone app of the world’s largest instant-messaging network (Windows Live Messenger) right for your iPhone and iPod touch. It features all the standard Windows Live stuff like photo sharing, chat and social stream from Windows Live Home.
