Following the previous rumors about the iPhone 4S/5, it looked like the next-gen iPhone will just be a hardware upgrade over the current iPhone 4 instead of a cosmetic one. But according to ThisIsMyNext, things might be a little different, in fact way too different from what we’ve been hearing about the next gen iPhone all this time!
You know iPad 2 is a really powerful device as compared to its predecessor. One thing that largely contributes to it's speed is the A5 processor, which apart from being dual-core in nature, also provides far better gaming experience. The graphics performance of the A5 processor is said to be as much as 9 times faster than its predecessor.
Sources close to Reuters have informed them that Apple plans to start production of iPhone 5 in July this year, and will ship the final product to consumers in September.
OmniVision, known for producing out-of-the-box digital imaging solutions, supplied Apple with the back camera sensor for iPhone 4. The California based company has recently produced new sensors called OV12825 for the cameras of upcoming smartphones. The newly developed sensor, which will enter the production stage around early June, will offer 12.6 megapixel resolution along with 1080p video recording on 60fps.
While WWDC is primarily a developers conference, it's one of the biggest events that Apple holds annually which is why they have always chosen it to announce all the iPhones. This year, however, report suggests that Apple will not be announcing iPhone 5 at WWDC, instead, they will keep WWDC software-only.
In an interview with Walt Mossberg, Sony CEO Howard Stringer said one of the company's Japanese factories had been affected by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck the country. According to 9to5Mac, Stringer went on to say this factory was meant to be making camera sensors for Apple.
With the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference coming up in a few short months, we were all getting ready for a peak at the iPhone 5, but alas if reports are to be believed, we could be waiting a little longer than we had hoped.
Apple has officially confirmed the schedule for WWDC 2011. It is going to be held from 6th to 10th of June – at Mascone Center in San Francisco.
