Whenever Apple releases a new version of their mobile operating system, the jailbreak loving public inevitably greet it with a mix of jubilation and hesitation. Investigating the firmware to see what features and upgrades Apple have added is obviously part of the fun, but knowing that they can't immediately upgrade to it through fear of not being able to jailbreak their device for an indeterminate period of time is the downside of such a situation.

Stefan Esser, better known within the jailbreak community as i0n1c, has teased via Twitter a snap of his third-generation iPad running Cydia on the brand new iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Interestingly enough, he did the same thing with iOS 5.1, but, as yet, the world has yet to see anything beyond a snippet.

Apple is clearly cracking the productivity whip in their iOS team offices and have wasted no time at all in producing and pushing out an update to their mobile operating system, taking the latest version to 5.1.1. While the latest release might offer some additional features, standard bug fixes and security patches, it also serves to keep the jailbreak development teams on their toes by forcing them to push an update where appropriate for their tools.
