Remember the video we talked about which showed an older version of Android running on HP’s now-discontinued TouchPad tablet? Well, it has been proved to be real as owner of the Android TouchPad (or DroidPad? OK, no) has dumped /system and uploaded it to the internet for those who crave for it.

A new video uploaded today shows an older version of Android running on HP’s now-discontinued webOS-based TouchPad tablet.

By now, you’ve probably heard news of Hewlett-Packard discontinuing their line of webOS devices and “spinning off” their PC business; the discontinuation of the webOS-based TouchPad has left retailers with thousands of units which are now being sold for as cheap as $99. You may want to get your own $99 TouchPad too, as a group of developers have announced the TouchDroid project which aims to bring Android to the TouchPad.

It’s no secret that the HP TouchPad, which launched only a few months ago, has had lousy sales, before being discontinued altogether earlier this week, as part of a larger shift within HP (likely caused by the device’s weak performance in the first place). HP, which is probably sitting on quite a lot of stock, is attempting to get rid of it quickly by radically dropping the TouchPad’s starting price to as little as $99, starting today.
