Since the introduction of iPhone (EDGE) in 2007, Apple remained the unipolar champion of the smartphone world. But its unchallenged supremacy has now been challenged by other stalwarts like Google’s Android, and the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series by Microsoft. It will be obligatory for Apple to bring some innovative changes to the device and it just cannot afford the luxury of cooling its heels. In the meanwhile, Android continues to gather momentum, and whereas it lacks iPhone's content and elegance, yet it has started matching Apple in terms of features.

Spirit Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone

We saw a video a few days back in which Geohot performed an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3. This will most probably also work on the iPhone 3.2 firmware for iPad. In the meanwhile, another iPhone hacker by the name of comex released another video, which showed off untethered userland (browser based) jailbreak for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. This new userland jailbreak of iPhone 3.1.3 by comex has now been given a name – say hello to “Spirit”, an untethered userland jailbreak for iPhone.

Blackra1n Fix for iTunes 9.1 with BlackBreeze

iTunes 9.1, which was released a few hours ago caused syncing issues for many users (specially on Windows), who were jailbroken on iPhone 3.1.2 (tethered) using blackra1n. But now thanks to ih8sn0w, this issue can now be fixed by using BlackBreeze.

John Gruber of Daring Fireball has added his thoughts on the “Verizon iPhone” report which was published by WSJ earlier today. According to him, the next-generation iPhone will feature an iPad like 940 x 640 resolution display, an A4 CPU chip (again like iPad) and a front facing camera for video conferencing. He also confirmed multitasking in the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0. This is what he had to say about Wall Street Journal’s report.

Apple has just released the final version of iPhone OS 3.2, along with SDK for iPad. This final version of iPhone OS 3.2 and SDK for iPad has been released only a few days before the first batch of iPad pre-orders ships this coming weekend on April 3rd. The last Beta 5 was released on March 18th, and Beta 4 was released earlier this same month. This is an iPad only release.

It’s out now and it’s official, Mac OS X 10.6.3 was released today by Apple. It is a very crucial update and it implements hundreds of fixes since it’s last update, 10.6.2 (November 2009). iTunes 9.1 Release Seems Imminent

According to MacRumors, Apple is expected to release iTunes 9.1 on April 3rd, the same day as iPad’s US launch date. This new version of iTunes will bring support for iPad, and a new “Books” section which will replace the existing “Audiobooks” section in the iTunes Store.
