Well the guy is back now! He has posted PwnageTool bundles for iPhone 3GS, iOS 4 GM release which you can use to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS, while preserving your baseband so that you can unlock using ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.
Apple has seeded iTunes 9.2 beta, along with iOS 4 GM (pre-release) for iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod touch via Apple Developer Connection. This release is strictly for testing purposes and is currently available for Mac OS X only.

After a long presentation about the number of apps downloaded from iTunes, number of iPads sold, some new enhancements to iPad, and the new development tools and corporate features that the phone’s updated operating system, "iPhone 4.0," will support, Jobs finally got to the details about the next-generation phone that has been leaked with tons of rumors for months.
We have already seen iOS 4.0 Beta 4 (formerly iPhone OS 4) being successfully jailbroken and unlocked on iPhone 3GS and 3G using ultrasn0w and blacksn0w. But for this final release of iOS 4, both the tools are likely going to get an upgrade soon to make them full compatible. The iPhone Dev Team has already promised a full carrier unlocking solution sometime this month for 05.12.01 baseband. Geohot might also update blacksn0w unlock for this latest firmware, which has already been successfully ported to the Beta 4 of iOS 4.
The million dollar question, how long before the new iPhone 4 is going to be jailbroken and unlocked? Well we already know that the iPhone Dev Team has already announced that they are going to release an unlock which will work on the 05.12.01 baseband on all iPhones, provided they haven't upgraded to the latest 05.13 baseband. But since the new iPhone 4 will have the latest baseband, it will be a while before it gets fully jailbroken and unlocked. Another infamous iPhone hacker by the name of Geohot is also said to have a new bootrom exploit, which he has preserved for this new iPhone.
Apples CEO Steve Jobs is all set to kick off his WWDC 10 keynote address in about an hour from now at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. The conference will mainly focus on iPhone development, iPhone OS 4, and the unveiling of the 4th-gen iPhone. WWDC 10 is only about 12 hours away now where Apple will unveil the next iPhone and what we have now is even more pictures leaked from Korea, showing the back panel, and other parts of the white model (video here) of the next-gen iPhone. The back panel case is similar to all the previous leaks that we have seen so far. Maybe someone in China, Vietnam or Korean region have got loads of these parts and they are selling it off to make loads of money right before the official announcement by Jobs.
Yes you read that right! The Italian site iDroid has managed to port the latest Android 2.2 OS (aka Froyo) to iPhone 3G. This port is based on the same iBoot method which was originally released for both iPhone 2G and 3G with Android 1.6.
