New High-Resolution iPhone 6 Photos Give Us A Clear Look At The Metal Back Panel

Of all the iPhone 6-related leaks we’ve had over the past few months, the rear shell has been a recurring one, presenting us with a fairly solid idea of what to expect from the upcoming handset’s form factor. Until the manufacturing process apparently began just a short while ago, we were only really seeing mockups and case molds, but in recent times, we’ve had first-hand glimpses at what is claimed to be the iPhone 6’s actual back cover. Now, in some of the clearest shots to date, we get up close and personal with the silver model of the forthcoming Apple smartphone, offering one or two previously unseen details.

The credit for this particular scoop goes to perpetual leaker Sonny Dickson, and even though he’s come through with some leaked images of questionable authenticity in the past, we do believe that this latest reveal is indicative of the final design. Dickson certainly seems to think so, and although there’s some visible damage to this particular part, it slots nicely in with the numerous other reports and sightings we’ve had of the iPhone 6.

As well as this silver edition, Apple looks set to retain the three color options offered with the current flagship iPhone 5s. This means that the ever-popular gold variant will also ship alongside the space gray configuration, although given how quickly the gold model sold out last time around, early adopters will have to queue early if they wish to get their hands on it.

As you’ll probably be aware by now, the iPhone 6 looks set to be announced on September 9th, with the device going on general sale a couple of weeks thereafter. Along with the prospect of a larger, 4.7-inch model, Apple is expected to also unveil a 5.5-inch version of its next-gen smartphone, representing a dramatic shift from a device that has never deviated from a 3.5-4-inch panel.

With Samsung expected to follow up this month’s announcement of the Galaxy Alpha with the eagerly-awaited Galaxy Note 4 at IFA – just prior to the iPhone 6’s big reveal – it’s going to be a busy few weeks in the mobile industry, and as ever, we’ll have all of the announcements covered here at Redmond Pie, so stay tuned!
