Microsoft Tipped To Buy TikTok As ByteDance’s Marvel Snap Returns To The App Store

Amid ongoing tensions between the United States government and TikTok owner ByteDance, US President Trump has now suggested that a potential fix for the issue could be the sale of the video-based social media platform to Microsoft.

The move comes after Marvel Snap, another app associated with ByteDance, once again returned to app stores following the TikTok ban that also took it out of action.

Developer Second Dinner has reportedly switched publisher to avoid any repeat issues, according to an AppleInsider report.

That all changed on Monday, as Marvel Snap can now once again be downloaded and played on iPhones in the United States. The card-collecting game has also been removed from Apple’s list of ByteDance applications, indicating that the game’s developer, Second Dinner, was likely able to make alternate publishing arrangements. No exact details have yet been provided, however.

As for TikTok, Trump has reportedly said that Microsoft is in negotiations to buy the service. According to a BBC News report, Trump even wants there to be a bidding war for the app that was briefly banned in the United States over concerns regarding its Chinese ownership.

However, a spokesperson for Microsoft has so far refused to be drawn on the claim, saying that the company has “nothing to share at this time”.
