Apple’s big WWDC 2024 event has brought with it a ton of news including the unveiling of the new software that will power iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches into 2025 and beyond.

The iOS 18 update is set to be released to the public this September, and Apple will make the new software available to owners of various different types of devices. But will yours be on the list?

If you’re looking to get your hands on iOS 18 or iPadOS 18, you’ll need one of the following devices:

  • iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)


  • iPad Pro models from 2018 and later (3rd gen)

Apple is now putting the new software updates through their paces via a beta program that will likely end with a public release in September, around the same time that the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models go on sale.
