iOS 12 And Cydia Impactor Compatibility

With Apple getting ready to release iOS 12 to the public, likely in around a week’s time, there are plenty of questions to be asked and hopefully answered, about what that means for all kinds of things relating to jailbreaking.

There are plenty of discussions going on around the internet relating to such things, with attention turning to Cydia Impactor as well in jailbreak circles. The question is simply, will Cydia Impactor work with iOS 12?

For those unfamiliar, Cydia Impactor is a tool that allows users to sideload iOS apps onto a device, allowing apps to be run that would not normally be possible thanks to all manner of reasons. The app has grown in ability and use of late and those wishing to be able to sideload apps and games onto their iPhones and iPads are concerned that iOS 12 will put paid to all that.

According to some tests however, that may not be the case, but all bets are off.

While there do appear to be some people who are struggling, there is also a number of people who appear to report that Cydia Impactor works just fine. From what we can see, the chances of success may depend on what OS users are using when trying to make Cydia Impactor do its thing as macOS users aren’t having much issues compared to Windows users, with the app being sideloaded also having a bearing on the result.

Plenty of people are saying that their apps simply refuse to launch once they are sideloaded, so as always, your mileage may vary.

There has not been an official Cydia Impactor update to add iOS 12 support as yet, so with that in mind, we wouldn’t suggest anyone who relies on sideloading update to iOS 12 just yet. Give it time, though, we’re sure it’ll come. Saurik will likely release a compatibility update for Cydia Impactor on iOS 12.
