Google Announces September 29th Event To Unveil Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Chromecast 2

As expected, Google has finally announced the date and time of its fall event via an official press invitation. The Mountain View-based company had been widely tipped to hold a dedicated event in the very near future, potentially with the intention of introducing a slew of new hardware to the world. A number of industry insiders had expected the event to take place on September 29th, but that had yet to be officially confirmed by the company, until now.

If we can take anything away from Google’s recent announcements, it’s that the company is no longer the predictable behemoth of yesteryear. Recent internal shuffling at Google has seen a huge restructuring of the firm to function under an umbrella organization known as ‘Alphabet’. More recently, we’ve also seen Google make some changes to its iconic logo that has been immediately recognizable around the world for the last fifteen years. However, it’s predicted that the September 29 event will take a more linear, somewhat predictable format.

Speculation over the better part of a year has suggested that Google is on the verge of unveiling not one, but two new Nexus smartphones. We already known a decent amount of detail pertaining to the new Nexus 5 – dubbed the Nexus 5X – handset that’s being designed and developed in conjunction with South Korean firm LG. Google is also thought to be in partnership with Chinese manufacturer Huawei as part of a combined effort to introduce a second new Nexus device, dubbed Nexus 6P, which will be company’s successor to last year’s flagship Nexus 6. There’s a good feeling that these two new phones will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box as well.

If smartphones aren’t your thing, then there’s also the likelihood that Google will use the event as an arena to introduce the recently leaked Chromecast 2. Apple has recently announced the fourth-generation Apple TV, while Amazon has recently lifted the covers off of its new range of Fire TV boxes. It seems that all of the focus appears to be on attempting to conquer the TV and streaming market, meaning that it makes perfect sense for Google to try and compete with these devices via a new, improved Chromecast.

As always, we will be taking a keen interest in whatever is announced on the day, ensuring that you, the readers, are kept entirely up to date on all of the reveals.
