Another day, another iPhone 5 rumor! According to a new report published today, there are as many as 150,000 units of the iPhone 5 being produced daily at Foxconn’s factories in Taiwan.

If you’ve been following iPhone 5 rumors here at Redmond Pie, you’ll know that reports based on exact production figures come from one very regular source. Yes, we’re talking about DigiTimes – a source for news regarding the supply side of the electronics industry. The site cites industry sources which claim that Foxconn Technology Group – which manufactures many Apple products – is pumping out 150,000 units of the next-generation iPhone every day.

Manufacturers like Largan Precision, TPK Holding, G-Tech Optoelectronics, Simplo and Dynapack are apparently in “full swing”; producing lens, touch panels, reinforced glass and batteries (respectively) for the iPhone 5. DigiTimes predicts that about 5-6 million units of the iPhone 5 are expected to be shipped this month.

From DigiTimes:

Suppliers in the iPhone 5 supply chain in Taiwan have geared up production recently with volume shipments of the new Apple smartphones to begin soon. Production of iPhone 5s at OEM maker Foxconn Electronics has reportedly reached 150,000 units per day, according to industry sources.

Lens maker Largan Precision, touch panel maker TPK Holding, reinforced glass supplier G-Tech Optoelectronics and battery vendors Simplo and Dynapack are all operating at full swing currently, the sources indicated.

Shipments of iPhone 5 from the supply chain are expected to reach 5-6 million in September.

We’ve now got enough rumors regarding the iPhone 5 to write a book on the topic. Just about everything regarding the mysterious device has been covered. Some say it will have a 4” edge-to-edge display, others believe that Apple will maintain the 3.5” display in use currently. There are reports of the iPhone 5 being released on Sprint and T-Mobile. We’ve heard news regarding its release in September, which was later contradicted from a report by another outlet, which suggested an October release date. Its design is either expected to be basically just a slimmer version of the iPhone 4, or have a new curved/tapered, iPad 2-like design.

The interesting thing is, all these reports cite sources who apparently have close contacts at Apple, yet, they all end up contradicting each other.

We personally have no idea of when the iPhone 5 will be released, but we’re hoping that it will be announced in this month or the next.
