Download: Cydia Impactor iOS 12 Update Released

Cydia creator Jay Freeman has been extremely quick to react to the public release of iOS 12. Freeman has anticipated high demand for an iOS 12-compatible Cydia Impactor and has taken the necessary steps to fulfill that demand with an update already available.

At this time, there is no public iOS 12 jailbreak available, which would lead many to believe that Freeman would continue to stay in the shadows and not update any of his tools or frameworks to offer compatibility.

It’s now evident that the reality is vastly different with saurik reacting almost immediately to Apple’s public release of iOS 12 to ensure that Impactor users have a brand new version with iOS 12-compatibility in their technological toolkit.

The last update that Cydia Impactor received was version 0.9.45 which was pushed out a number of weeks ago to fix a rather annoying issue that was presented due to a certification error. This latest update supersedes that release, takes Impactor to version 0.9.46, and includes everything that is needed for device owners to side-load apps onto their iPhones outside of the App Store or Xcode environments.

The accompanying release notes for Cydia Impactor version 0.9.46 are as follows:

support/fix iOS 12 codesign; consistently use SSL CA; allow user to ignore SSL errors

Typically speaking, device owners on a global scale rely on Cydia Impactor to side-load semi-untethered jailbreak apps onto their iPhones and iPads in order to be able to execute the app on the device and benefit from the jailbreak payload that lives inside. In that sense, Impactor has been a staple part of jailbreaks like Electra and Yalu. Given the state of the jailbreak scene, and the fact that it’s highly unlikely that we will get the untethered holy grail experience ever again, Cydia Impactor will almost certainly continue to prove its value in the community.

In addition to side-loading jailbreak apps, device owners often use Cydia Impactor to get modified “non-official” versions of App Store apps onto their devices outside of the App Store environment. This compatibility update will ensure that those who have upgraded to iOS 12 can still continue to do exactly that. If you are a Cydia Impactor user, you can grab version 0.9.46 right now from cydiaimpactor.com!
