EA Access Brings Netflix-like All-You-Can-Play Gaming To Xbox One For Just $5 Per Month

Ben Reid·July 30, 2014
Electronic Arts, or EA as it is often referred, is one of the most well-respected and renowned gaming publishers on the planet, and has, in its decorated history, presented us with some truly seminal titles. Now, it's fair to say that apart from Titanfall, Xbox One owners haven't had much to claim over their PS4-toting rivals in the battle of one-upmanship so far. However, EA has just rolled out a special deal for Xbox One customers that offers access to a number of those aforementioned great games for a cost of just $5 per month, which, if you've already stumped up the cash for the console itself, is chickenfeed by comparison.

The early version that is currently playable lets gamers create their own character and then go on some multiplayer killing sprees against not just computer-controlled AI, but also other gamers. Until now, the beta has been of the closed variety but now it's open to just about anyone, so no invite code is required.

FIFA 15 Cover Revealed, Lionel Messi Is The Face Of It, Here’s What It Looks Like

Ben Reid·July 16, 2014
The World Cup may have come to a close over the weekend after what has been, by all accounts, an epic tournament, but for football / soccer fans, it was only a precursor to the season upcoming. We're approaching that time of the year when, for Europe and many other parts of the world, the games are about to commence, and on cue, the launch of the new FIFA title. Lionel Messi, Argentina's talisman, may have just missed out on the sport's most coveted prize, but he can take some solace in the fact that as well as scooping the official award for best player, he's also the face of FIFA 15.

So, when Major Nelson says that Grand Theft Auto 5 is on sale, with a massive 50% off its normal price, then we tend to take notice. More details can be found right after the fold.

Here’s What The GTA 5 Trailer Looks Like When Remade In Real Life [Video]

Ben Reid·July 1, 2014
Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a monumental success for Rockstar Games, having broken all sorts of sales records following its release late last year. With a next-gen version for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as the PC also in the pipeline, GTA fans remain very much engaged with this immensely popular title, and none perhaps more so than the guys at Zapruder Pictures. In Spain's capital city of Madrid, the folks of Zapruder have parodied the entire trailer in real life, and the result, as you'll see below, is truly something to admire.

GTA 5 Trailer On PS4 Vs PS3: Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison [Video]

Ben Reid·June 17, 2014
Grand Theft Auto 5 wasn't just the biggest release in the gaming calendar last year, but an entertainment launch of unprecedented proportions, smashing numerous records including many of those consistently claimed by Activision's Call of Duty franchise. But despite incredible successes in 2013, the story of GTA 5 has not yet reached its conclusion, with an upscaled launch headed to the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 in due course. To give us an idea of just how much better it will look on the next-gen machines compared to those preceding, a new side-by-side clip has been released of the title on PS3 vs. PS4, and as you might imagine, the difference is stark.

PlayStation 5, Xbox Two Might Launch Sooner Than Expected

Ben Reid·June 7, 2014
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One may still be in relative infancy given the life cycles of previous-gen machines, but in this fast-moving culture of technology, folks are always looking ahead to what's next. While it will be a number of years before the respective successors of these two consoles manifest, though, the wait mightn't be as long as we suspected and in fact, work has perhaps already started on the PlayStation 5 and what will likely be referred to as the Xbox Two.

Xbox One To Get 10% Graphics Boost At Expense Of Kinect

Ben Reid·June 5, 2014
The Microsoft Xbox One is set to get a graphics boost that will offer around a ten percent bump on the current configuration, although it will only be effective when the Kinect sensor is not connected to the machine. The motion-detecting peripheral, which Microsoft opted to bundle in with the console for several months before recently offering a cheaper, Kinect-free solution, is not deemed essential by some avid gamers looking for a better all-round performance to better match the PlayStation's, and thus, this move actually makes a great deal of sense.
