Vertex For iOS 7 Released: Brings A Marvelous iOS 8 Concept To Life [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·March 6, 2014
A particularly captivating, futuristic iOS 8 concept, which we first caught a glimpse of late last month, sought to combine elements of the Control Center and new multitasking view of to create an entirely new, effortlessly functional interface. Some concepts are unattainable and / or just plain unrealistic, but, reading between the lines, this particular concept made perfect sense - combining two features into one for ease-of-access. Naturally, with the jailbreak scene currently thriving, one developer sought to turn this most plausible of designs into a genuine reality, and having announced the Vertex tweak only a couple of days back, it has been completed, packaged up, and is ready for prime time. Its Harmony series has sought to reinvent the way we interact with our digital devices at home, and the feature-packed new Harmony Smart Keyboard follows this same ethos by providing a novel way of controlling the likes of the Apple TV set-top, as well as pretty much anything else one could possibly own in the world of living room gadgetry.

Ferrari’s Apple CarPlay Integration Is The Best We’ve Seen So Far [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·March 5, 2014
When branching out of its own particular niche, Apple tends to cozy up to high-end manufacturers within the new industry it's trying to capture. Nike, for example, has been a key partner in the Cupertino's various fitness-related enterprises, and with CarPlay now at the fore, Apple marketing lead Greg Joswiak has been at the Geneva Motor Show discussing a tie-in with Italian supercar maker Ferrari. Joining Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo on stage, the pair showcased CarPlay integration in the revamped four-seater Ferrari FF grand tourer.

iOS 7.1 To Release ‘Any Day Now’

Ben Reid·March 5, 2014
With CarPlay having been demonstrated heavily by Apple and its auto partners over the past couple of days, we have more than a slight inkling that iOS 7.1 won't be too far away. After all, betas of the forthcoming release have served as virtually the sole source of information pertaining to the in-car flavor of iOS, and although the automobiles themselves won't be shipping just yet, it would make sense for Apple to begin distributing the necessary iOS updates as soon as feasibly possible. Previously, we'd heard that iOS 7.1 would hit the scene "mid-March," and now, as surmised by the folks of Daring Fireball, it could be set to make its début in the next few days.

This iPhone 6c Concept Is Unapologetically Brilliant! [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·March 4, 2014
With the recent announcements of the Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and the HTC M8 well on the way, it's fair to say that the Android boys have muscled in and dampened the rumors of Apple's next big thing. At present, we're under the impression that there will be two new, significantly larger devices hitting the scene later on this year, but while it looks like the iPhone 5c will be scrapped and forgotten about, one concept designer has come through with an interesting take on what we might end up seeing if Apple does decide to stick with the polycarbonate finish. Check it out after the leap!

Oscars Host Used Samsung Sponsored Galaxy Note Onstage, iPhone Backstage

Ben Reid·March 4, 2014
Samsung's advertising machine was in full flow once again at the Oscars 2014 ceremony, and when a Galaxy Note-snapped picture by TV personality Ellen DeGeneres surpassed the record for most retweets ever in just half an hour, the marketing and PR department of the electronics firm must have felt as though they'd struck gold. Yet, as ever at these kinds of events, the truth tends to reveal its ugly head backstage, and a later snap uploaded by DeGeneres via Twitter for iPhone suggests that, like a seemingly disproportionately high number of celebs, she's in fact an iPhone user.
