Mozilla has just dropped version number 22 of its popular Firefox browser and with it, brought a whole host of new and exciting features. Included in this release is support 3D gaming, video calls, and file sharing, affording developers enhanced compatibility with less requirement for plugins and other unnecessary third-party installations. Apple has just updated its iTunes app with a couple of rudimentary improvements and bug fixes. Notably, the bug that would previously cause iTunes to quit unexpectedly when syncing switched from wired and wireless has now been plugged, and a further issue which meant users would need to sign in repeatedly to the iTunes Store has also been sorted out. Viber, the popular cross-platform VoIP service, has just been given a large-scale update. Both the Android and iOS versions of the app have been refreshed, and notably, Viber is also now available on both Windows and OS X. With 200 million users worldwide, Viber is right up there with Skype in terms of reach, and today's update is easily the most significant in its history. Accompanying the world famous Photoshop is Lightroom, which offers its users a novel way to organize and manage digital images, and today, Adobe has released a free public beta of Photoshop Lightroom 5.0.
The Facebook social network ensures that, whether you haven't seen a person within the last ten years or ten minutes, everybody can remain connected. Billions of messages are shared through Facebook on any given day, but while we are often only directing our correspondence with one or a small group of people, it's often the case that everybody can read it. In these instances, a private inbox message may be necessary, but if you want to have some fun with it, you could try a new Chrome extension allowing you to secretly hide messages within images. While perhaps not an immediately reassuring mode of obscuring a message from prying eyes of others, the extension, developed by a computer science student at Oxford University, does have an element of mischievousness to it, and will have your Facebook friends scratching their heads as to why you're consistently posting plain images of your food. As part of Nokia's continued coalition with Microsoft, the Finnish company is also working hard to raise once more its own profile, and although there is plenty of competition in the streaming music game, Nokia Music fans - including this one - will be pleased to see accessibility stretched to other Windows devices and machines.
