Is Apple Using Mac’s iSight Camera With Mavericks To Watch Our Every Move?

Paul Morris·November 2, 2013
Users all over the world are having their say about the relatively recent revelations of spying and stealth information capture that seems to be standard practice within certain departments. That heightened sense of awareness hasn't been helped by the fact that a keen eyed programmer came across a block of code in Apple's new OS for the Mac - OS X Mavericks - that suggests that the Californian giants are watching us. As we expected, it turns out that jumping to an initial conclusion without all of the evidence generally ends up with the wrong assumption being reached.

Sony Teases PocketStation Related Announcement For November 5 [VIDEO]

Paul Morris·November 2, 2013
Do you remember the Sony PocketSation? Nope? Well it has been 14 years since it was announced and 11 years since it was laid to rest by the Japanese company so we won't judge you for not keeping it in your thoughts. The unfortunate looking Sony device was an original PlayStation accessory that was sold as a combination of a Memory Card and a personal digital assistant. It came with an LCD display, infra-red connectivity and even a clock. We haven't had to apportion any of our thoughts to the PocketStation for over a decade, but a very bizarre Sony teaser could suggest that the company is planning a revival for the device in time for the PlayStation 4 arrival.

The LG-manufactured Nexus 5 is now available for immediate purchase and it looks exactly like the speculation had suggested. It features a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 1080p 4.95-inch display. And it runs Android 4.4 KitKat, which incidentally was also released alongside the new flagship Google device. The release of Android 4.4 means that developers, mobile enthusiasts and general tinkerers have had a chance to delve into the heart of the operating system in an attempt to extract as much goodness that is humanly possible.

Existing Nike+ FuelBand Users Will Get Some Of New SE Features With Updated App

Paul Morris·October 31, 2013
Whenever a company updates a successful and well used product line with a new model it generally causes consumers to consider their position. Will their existing hardware and software combination become redundant? Will the company in question continue to offer support and period updates going forward, or will they need to bite the bullet and invest in the new product? All of those questions must have been going through the head of existing Nike FuelBand users when the newer FuelBand SE model was announced not that long ago. Nike has now confirmed that existing original FuelBand users will not be left behind and will indeed get a host of new features when the second-generation wristband launches on November 6.

iPad Air Benchmarks Show Significant Performance Improvement Over Predecessor

Paul Morris·October 30, 2013
We think it's pretty fair to say that Apple's recent announcement of the iPad Air didn't exactly blow everyone's mind when it comes to technological innovation. The unveiling of the next-generation full-sized iPad pretty much fell in line with what the majority were expecting in the fact that it offers an improved but evolutionary upgrade from its predecessor. The introduction of the Apple A7 chipset and the improved engineering principles mean that the device will ultimately be faster, lighter and thinner than all other iPads to date, but the Primate Labs Geekbench 3 tests give us a pre-release indication of just how capable the iPad Air is.
