The App Store Has A New Web-Based Version Available Now

Apple’s App Store has finally made the leap to the web following the release of a new website showcasing the apps that can be downloaded for Apple’s various platforms.

The new web-based App Store can be accessed via the apps.apple.com web address and offers dropdown options for the different Apple platforms, like iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple also offers recommendations for games and apps as well as a specific section for Apple Arcade titles.

Those looking for a particular app can use the search function, but anyone hoping to remotely install apps on their devices will be left disappointed. While Google has allowed web users to remotely download apps to their Android devices for years, the App Store still doesn’t match it.

Regardless, this new website is an upgrade over the previous way that apps lived on the web. Each app would have its own page that could be accessed if known.

But there was no way to search for apps and games, and there was no way to browse as if using the App Store on a device. That has now changed with this new web-based App Store release.

Hopefully this is just the beginning and Apple does intend to offer remote downloads for iPhone, iPad, and Mac owners. Currently, Apple Vision Pro owners can remotely download apps via the App Store, so the feature is at least a possibility.
