Apple Might Owe You Money If You Used Siri In The Last Decade

Apple is once again on the receiving end of a class action lawsuit, this time surrounding the Siri voice assistant. If you used Siri between 2014 and 2024, there is a chance that you could claim money as part of a payout.

9to5Mac reports that Apple agreed to settle the privacy lawsuit back in January of this year, with Siri activations between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024 included.

This all relates to a 2019 discovery that Apple contractors had heard private conversations of people who owned HomePods and other Apple devices. The issue came about because the devices thought they had heard the “Hey Siri” wake command, so started recording.

That meant that conversations were recorded and later used for Siri response improvement purposes. Because those Siri requests were accidental, private conversations were then heard by accident.

Apple said that the improvement program looked into fewer than 1% of Siri activations, but that is likely to still run into the many millions of recordings.

Apple eventually settled a class action lawsuit for $95 million. You can fill out a claim via a new website, with he payout limited to #20 per device. You can claim for a maximum of five Siri devices. You have until July 2 to complete the form and stake your claim.
