The iPad Air and the new generation of iPad mini were both unveiled yesterday, and the press reaction, as always, had been ecstatic. Alongside the hardware improvements that these devices carry, there’s one more tradition that they, as before, have conformed to, which is a new wallpaper.
While the iOS device lineup isn’t really big on cosmetic upgrades, a new wallpaper has generally been the tradition for even new generation of iPhones and iPads, and we see the same thing this time around as well. What’s noteworthy over here, however, is the fact that the iPad Air wallpaper is now available for download, even if you don’t have the latest iPad Air.
The “leaked” wallpaper comes courtesy of a Twitter user who was gracious enough to share it with the blogosphere and Internet community. It follows a soothing blue gradient on top, blending with a cool aqua at the bottom, maintaining Apple’s two-tone color schema for default wallpapers. The choice of the soothing blue looks really great on the iPad Air and iPad mini 2’s retina displays, and even on other high end devices with high pixel density displays. We tried this wallpaper on the iPhone 4S, an iPhone 5, 5s and 5c, and believe us, it looks great. The color gradient really makes text stand out on these sharp displays, and while it’s something relatively minor, we would call it an appealing aspect for Apple’s product lineup.
In my personal experience and opinion, Apple’s stock wallpapers have always been loads better than Android’s (it’s main rival), and the trend today also continues.
Apple’s event yesterday saw a lot of new tech come to light, with some of it being really impressive, like the Mac Pro, and the fact that they’ve managed to improve old hardware using software features in OS X Mavericks. The new pricing model only added to the impressiveness of the announcements, and the new iPads could simply be called the showstoppers. Will these be able to help the company’s declining market share? That’s something we’ll have to wait for to find out.
