Unannounced Beats Pill Speaker Debuts With F1 Driver Daniel Ricciardo

It isn’t unheard of for companies to give celebrities and sports stars access to their products by way of promotion, but Beats does things a little differently.

The company has a track record of handing unannounced gear to those in the limelight, building expectations ahead of an announcement. Now, it’s the Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker’s turn.

Amid rumors that a new Beats Pill-like speaker is on the horizon, F1 Driver Daniel Ricciardo has been spotted carrying one such speaker around as he gets ready for the Miami Grand Prix this week.

Details regarding the speaker are currently impossible to come by, and Beats has yet to say anything about it which means that we’re in guesswork territory. But the fact that the speaker has broken cover suggests a launch could be imminent.

This also isn’t the first time that we’ve seen this speaker, either. NBA superstar LeBron James was recently spotted carrying one around in a different color to this latest spotting, too.

The previous Beats Pill speaker was launched in 2012 and then replaced by the Pill+. That was ultimately discontinued in 2022 and it now seems likely that it will make a return to the market sooner rather than later. We’ll have to wait for an unveiling to know what to expect, but we can safely assume that the Lightning connector of the older speaker will be replaced by a shiny new USB-C one instead.
