Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro hasn’t been around for all that long, but rumor are already starting to center on the 2026 iteration.
Now, a new report claims that the iPhone 18 Pro will support full 5G internet connectivity.

The report, by The Information, claims that Apple is set to “add support in upcoming iPhones as early as next year for 5G networks that aren’t tethered to Earth’s surface, which includes satellites.” It goes on to say that the new feature ” would give the iPhone full internet access over satellite.”
If the iPhone 18 Pro does get this feature, we can assume that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will also be on board. It also seems unlikely that the rumored foldable iPhone would miss out on the feature, especially if it’s announced alongside the other premium models in the fall of 2026.
Apple currently offers limited satellite connectivity on the iPhone 14 and newer, but only for limited use. It powers the Emergency SOS feature when no cellular connection is available. It also includes support for location finding via the Find My and Messages apps, alongside calls for roadside assistance.

All of these satellite-powered features require direct line of sight to a satellite, and the speed of these connections is currently limited — hence Apple’s focus on emergency situations rather than a full replacement for cellular service.
