Apple CEO Steve Jobs has confirmed that a new software update for iOS 4.x will be rolled out soon to fix performance woes on iPhone 3G, running iOS 4.x. He confirmed this in a reply to an email, sent to him by a user who expressed his frustration over the performance of his iPhone 3G on iOS 4, calling it '”dog slow”.
Here is what appears to be a leaked late production unit of a white iPhone 4 which is officially scheduled to launch “later this year”. 9to5Mac site which got the scoop on it believes that this might be one of those units which have been “scrapped by Apple at the last minute after defects in the white color clarity were found”. Facebook for iPhone version 3.2 was rolled out last night which brought support for the newly launched “Places” feature, support for background uploading of pictures and videos in iOS 4, along with other visual enhancements such as “Pull-to-Refresh” to iPhone. However for many users including myself, this new version was mostly broken, throwing “Unable to Load this Page” error on most pages. Oh and if you tried removing and reinstalling the app, it simply refuses to login.

And just when we all thought that there is never going to be a way to hack the most secure console of this generation i.e. PlayStation 3, in comes a new hack which claims to run games on PS3 without having the need to insert the original disc. At the Facebook HQ in Palo Alto, CA, Facebook CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg, along with other developers, engineers and partners at Facebook announced a new location based product called Facebook Places. This is essentially a check-in service like Foursquare and Gowalla that allows you to check-in to places that you have been to share it with all your Facebook friends and family. You will be able to see which of your friends are currently at the same venue and which of them have been there. There is also going to be an option which will allow you to tag your friends into places you check-in. Of course you can change all that in your privacy settings and by default only those who are friends with you on Facebook will be able to see your check-ins. Facebook is also going to keep a complete history of check-ins that you have made at a dedicated page on web.
One thing which Apple never fails to do is to impress us all with awesome new ads for their products. And so going by the trend, Apple today has released a brand new ad for iPad which is dubbed as “iPad is Delicious”. What is so delicious about it? The unofficial release of PwnageTool for jailbreaking iOS 4.0.2 is now out in the wild. It can jailbreak iPhone 3GS (with old bootrom only) using iOS 4.0.2 custom firmware. During Jimmy Kimmel’s live show, Justin Long took his iPhone out to share an interesting SMS conversation that he has had, in the process showing Cydia on his iPhone’s homescreen.
