iPhone 7 Rumor: Media Event In Week Of September 5th, Pre-Orders On 9th, Release Date On 16th

Following on from his previous tweets speculating that Apple’s next-generation iPhone would hit physical and digital shelves on September 16th, serial leaker Evan Blass is now suggesting that pre-orders for the new iPhone will start being accepted on September 9th.

The September 9th date, which has once again been shared via Blass’ @evleaks Twitter account, has apparently been “confirmed” by trusted sources, and would mean that Apple would be taking global orders for the new iPhone seven days before it starts shipping.

It’s not uncommon for Apple to open up pre-orders for new Phone hardware the week before it actually makes its way to physical and digital shelves across the globe. It’s a sales tactic that Apple has largely adopted with historical iPhone launches, although the iPhone 6s range enjoyed a two week pre-order period before shipping began to those who had placed an order on the back of the dedicated media event.

If the predicted dates are accurate, meaning that we will see pre-orders go live on September 9th, with shipping on September 16th, then we can expect a media event to take place during the week of September 5th.

Rather than actually giving a confirmed or predicted date for when Apple’s event will take place, Blass’ latest tweet takes the route of suggesting that interested individuals can “extrapolate the launch event date” based on his latest and previous tweets. Of course, we still don’t know the source of this “confirmed” information, and Apple is yet to make any official statement on the matter.

The predicted dates however look to have the potential to be accurate, but we really won’t know for sure until that precious invite lands in the inboxes of the invited media and press officials who will be in attendance during the iPhone event.

When the event is officially announced, it’s likely that there will be a lot to look forward to on the day. As well as the expected iPhone announcement, there’s also the potential for Apple to introduce a new range of MacBooks, as well as potentially touch on the Apple Watch and show us exactly what’s in store with a second-generation release of that product range.

As always, as soon as more information becomes available, we will bring it to you.
