iPhone 15 Pro Max Bests Samsung As The World’s Best Selling Smartphone

Amid doom and gloom surrounding iPhone sales, especially in China, new research from Counterpoint Research suggests that things might not be all that bad for Apple.

According to its latest report Apple sits at the top of the list of the 10 best-selling smartphones in the world for the first quarter of 2024.

That’s thanks to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, while the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 14 filled the rest of the top four spots. The first non-Apple device came in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in fifth place.

Notably, the Pro Max variant achieved the top position for the first time in Apple’s non-seasonal quarter, reflecting an increasing trend of consumer preference for high-end smartphones.

Rounding out the top ten we have the budget Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A54 in sixth and seventh place while the iPhone 15 Plus had the eighth place. The Samsung Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy A23 completed the top ten.

Despite the good news, Apple’s overall iPhone sales were down 10% compared to the year prior, while it would appear that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max continue to carry the rest of the lineup.

Apple will hope that it can offer strong iPhone sales as we get closer to the end of the iPhone 15 lineup’s rein. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models this coming September and iPhone sales tend to slow as we get closer to the launch of new models.
