iOS 8.2 Release Date Inches Closer

With iOS 8.2 beta 5 download having emerged earlier this week, we suspected that the final release could be upon us really soon, and now, a new report has indicated that it could be released to the end user in March.

Given that we know of iOS 8.2’s Apple Watch credentials, it makes sense for the software to emerge in advance of the wearable’s release, and with Tim Cook having noted that his company was on track for an April launch, it seems that the accompanying firmware is also well within schedule.

The news on iOS 8.2’s release arrives courtesy of BGR, which cites trusted sources in claiming that Apple’s roadmaps outline March as the key month, and with this in mind, it’s likely that we’ll see at least one more iOS 8.2 beta over the next few weeks, if not more.

A short while ago, we also caught a glimpse of the Apple Watch companion app’s icon, which will be dark and fairly plain as per leaked image. The app itself will be integral for all Watch owners, housing most of the settings and general configuration options, and as far as preparation goes, Apple looks well placed to take the market by storm.

As for competition, Google’s Android Wear is the obvious adversary, but despite a number of vendors jumping on the fledgling platform – including the more established brands like Samsung, LG and Motorola – none have made the impact predicted of Apple Watch.

As we continue to wait for the device to hit the market, we’ll be keeping an eye out for any further clues on the software front, as well as any interesting information pertaining to the device itself. Given that it’s slated for April, there’ll no doubt be a few clues to mull over in the near future, and given that this is also a new product category, expect a decent-sized ceremony when everything kicks off.

As a reminder, iOS 8.1.3 download is the latest software available to the masses, and if you’re a jailbreaker, you’ll want to avoid this one for the time being.
