Here’s iOS 18.5 battery life drain tested on various iPhone models, complete with video demo.
Apple recently released iOS 18.5 to the public after a weeks-long beta program, and the new update has been available for a few days now. But the big question is whether you should update your own iPhone to the new software.
We’d always suggest that updating is a good idea to ensure that you get the best features and bug fixes, but if you’re using an older iPhone, there are other concerns as well.
Battery life can be an issue on older handsets, and that’s why iAppleBytes has released a new video that details how iOS 18.5 behaves on a number of different iPhones.
According to the YouTuber, each iPhone is set to the same display brightness and connected to the same WiFi to try and ensure that the parameters are as controlled as possible before running these tests. However, it’s important to remember that these tests aren’t always repeatable, no matter what, and your mileage may vary.
The test puts new and old iPhones through the Geekbench battery tests to see how this latest update compares to older ones so people like you can make an informed decision on whether to update or not. You can check the video out to get a full rundown of how things worked out, with some devices handling the update better than others.
The iOS 18.5 update is likely to be one of the last before Apple starts to release the developer betas of iOS 19 ahead of its public release this September.
