How To Install AFC2, OpenSSH After iOS 8.3 Jailbreak

Here’s how to download and install AFC2 and OpenSSH after iOS 8.3 jailbreak on your compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.

Jailbreaking an iOS device opens up the door to a whole new host of possibilities. But probably the best part about liberating your device is the fact that you get access to the file system, something which Apple does not allow at stock level.

AFC2 (Apple File Conduit) and OpenSSH are two such packages that let you do just that. So what’s the difference between the two? To cut the long story short, AFC2 allows access to the file system over USB for tools like iFunbox, iExplorer etc to work, while OpenSSH does the same but over a WiFi network for tools like WinSCP and Cyberduck to work with your iOS device.

The good news here is that both these packages work with iOS 8.3. Here’s how you can install them the right away.

How To Install AFC2

To install iOS 8.3 compatible AFC2, make sure you get the one which is from TaiG’s official repo.

Step 1: Launch Cydia from your iOS device’s home screen.

Step 2: Tap on ‘Sources’ and add TaiG’s repo:

http://apt.taig.com/

Step 3: Let the repositories refresh, and once done, tap on ‘Search’ at the bottom and type ‘TaiG AFC2’.

Step 4: Install ‘TaiG AFC2’ .

Step 5: Respring or reboot your device for the changes to take effect.

That’s it, you’re done. You can now access your device’s file system over USB using an app like iFunbox.

How To Install OpenSSH

Step 1: Fire up Cydia from your home screen.

Step 2: Tap on ‘Search’ at the bottom ribbon of Cydia, and type in ‘OpenSSH’.

Step 3: Now simply install this ‘OpenSSH’ package.

That’s it, you’re now set to access your device’s file system over WiFi.

Note: After installing OpenSSH, we highly recommend that you change your default root password using an app like MobileTerminal. By default it’s set to ‘alpine’, we suggest being more creative here and opt for something strong which is hard to guess by others.
