GreenPois0n is Now Confirmed as an Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 [Update x3]

GreenPois0n-Jailbreak

@chpwn: The tethered status of SHAtter or greenpoison has not been announced. It's a surprise!

Unknown sources of Vincent has also confirmed that the upcoming GreenPois0n tool is going to be untethered for all devices.

@veeence: Sunday. Untethered.

But since nothing has been officially confirmed by any member of the Chronic or iPhone Dev Teams, we will take this news with a grain of salt, but with a hope that this Sunday is really going to turnout as “funday”.

And of course, we will be bringing you all the how-to guides for jailbreaking iOS 4.1 devices using GreenPois0n this Sunday! Stay tuned for that!

UPDATE 1: MuscleNerd has confirmed that SHAtter exploit and GreenPois0n tool are only for the fourth-gen A4 devices like iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, and iPad. It is not going to work on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 3G.

UPDATE 2: Apple TV 2G might also be supported.

@chronicdevteam: greenpois0n supports: The iPad, the iPhone 4, and the iPod touch 4. Probably the AppleTV as well.

UPDATE 3: MuscleNerd has now confirmed that GreenPois0n is going to be an untethered jailbreak for all fourth-gen iOS devices.

Those reading between the lines: Yes SHAtter itself is tethered. @comex came up with a way to untether it on 4.1/3.2.2

SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit. Bootrom-based but requires userland "assistance" for untethered boots (@comex did this for 4.1)

Even though Chronic Dev Team hasn’t announced the tethered status for the SHAtter based GreenPois0n tool yet, but if this tweet from the well known Cydia developer is anything to go by, GreenPois0n is most likely going to be an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.1.
