First Pokemon Go Gen 2 Characters Have Arrived

While the full Pokemon Go Gen 2 is not here yet, Niantic today has announced first Pokemon characters from Gen 2 update. Here are the details.

Fans of Nintendo and Niantic’s Pokémon Go will want to dive back into the game today after the latter announced that a raft of new Pokémon are now available for capture. Announced via the Pokémon Go website, both Togepi and Pichu are now available whilst more Pokémon will also be making an appearance in the game, starting today. Niantic isn’t yet spelling out which characters they will be, however.

Fans of the Pokémon Go will also no doubt be ecstatic to learn that Niantic has also confirmed that more Pokémon will be coming to the game over the coming weeks and months, with Pokémon from the second generation Pokémon Gold and Silver. Again, no names have been mentioned but it’s a safe bet that all of your old favorites will be making an appearance.

As if this wasn’t enough good news for one day, Niantic has also announced that gamers can look forward to seeing a special edition Pikachu within the Pokémon Go game.

If you want to spot him you’ll need to be quick though – this special festive hat wearing Pikachu will only be around until 10:00 on December 29th.

Professor Willow has discovered Togepi and Pichu hatching from Eggs! Starting later today, Trainers will have the opportunity to hatch these and several other Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto Region in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games. These are the first of more Pokémon coming to Pokémon GO over the next few months.

The Pokémon GO game saw huge growth following its release but in the months since has experienced something of a slow down in usage. Niantic will be hoping that the addition of new Pokémon will help pull gamers back in, and given the excitement surrounding the possibility of new creatures being added to the game, we think the developer might just be on to something.
