New reports suggest that Samsung has finally heard what everyone's been saying for quite some time; its handsets just don't look or feel as nice as some of the competition.
Sometimes I despair, I really do. Just when you think that the madness has come to some sort of logical end, someone proves you wrong. Samsung did that rather emphatically when it announced a pair of Galaxy Mega handsets that take what the company did with the Note and Note II and then, well, make it bigger.
Samsung is just a couple of weeks away from releasing its flagship Galaxy S4 to the public, and although things have been a little quiet on the ad front since the announcement on the 14th of last month, the Korean company is back with quite a few clips reminding us why the handset is anticipated by so many. The YouTube videos, which were brought to our attention, comprise of very short commercials highlighting some of the marquee features of the upcoming device, including Sound Shot, Group Play, and S Translator. Check them out right after the break!
CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly builds based upon the very latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean can now be installed on your Galaxy S III (GT-i9300). If you own this particular model, and wish to check out the latest nightlies, please check out our step-by-step tutorial after the break.
Although things have been somewhat quiet from Nokia and Windows Phone 8 in light of the upcoming smartphone releases from Samsung and HTC, the camera of the Finnish company's Lumia 920 is still considered among the best in the business. Conversely, the Samsung Galaxy S Series' snappers have tended to underperform, and while Nokia's flagship completely smoked the Galaxy S III in terms of still camera performance (particularly in low light), the Galaxy S4's much-hyped 13-megapixel offering brings the kinds of improvements you would expect of a next-gen handset. To test one category, one user has taken the opportunity to produce a stabilization comparison video of Samsung's apparent best video camera against that of the 920, which of course includes that much-lauded PureView technology. Which came out on top? Find out, after the break!
As part of the continuation of its "legacy" in carrying Galaxy devices before any other, AT&T has just confirmed the prices of the 16GB and 32GB variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4. News that the 32GB version would set consumers back $249 upfront may have surfaced some time ago, but today, the company has stated that the 16GB storage option version will only cost $199. Since the Galaxy S4 arrives complete with its very own microSD card slot, consumers are less likely to agonize over the decision as a prospective iPhone or HTC One buyer might, but if you do wish to opt for the smaller of the two, you can save yourself $50 in the process.
With a bunch of new devices from Samsung, HTC and Sony joining an already crowded smartphone market, this Spring is certainly a good time to be upgrading your handset. With so many reviews offering varied, mostly opinion-based coverage on which deserves your hard-earned cash, PhoneArena has tried to keep things objective by posting a display performance comparison of each of the industry's most sought-after handsets. Included in the line-up is the iPhone 5, Samsung's current and upcoming Galaxy S4 and the current Galaxy S III, Sony's waterproof Xperia Z, the HTC One, and Nokia's Lumia 920. Check out the comparison after the jump!
In order to heighten the appeal to its flagship Galaxy S III, Samsung released the aesthetically similar, scaled-down version S III Mini late last year. Those who take a close look at a devices tech specs will have noticed that, in actuality, the similarities between the Galaxy S III and the cheaper, smaller offering end at the design and name, but that hasn't stopped the Mini from yielding strong sales since. Never one to baulk at a tried-and-tested success, Samsung looks set to offer a similar product in follow-up to the forthcoming Galaxy S4, with reports today suggesting the Galaxy S4 Mini will arrive almost immediately after its flagship counterpart.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is not too far away; yet while many of us are moderately excited by the prospect of its release, it stands to reason that the guys over at SamMobile would perhaps be a little more stoked than most. The Samsung-focused blog has already spent the past couple of days extracting various parts of a Galaxy S4 ROM dump and distributing them about the Web, and having finished picking at the carcass, has now released a bunch of animated demo clips outlining some of the new features on offer with the forthcoming flagship.
As you may have gathered by now, SamMobile has gotten hold of a Samsung Galaxy S4 ROM dump, and has spent much of the week thus far drip-feeding its contents out to the Android vultures. Samsung's upcoming handset features plenty in the way of new and exclusive content, and following on from the release of the new S Voice and a bunch of beautiful S4 wallpapers, we now have our hands on the ringtones. At 11MB in total, it's a pretty impressive collection, and if your current melody has become a little tiresome, why not freshen things up with your very own Galaxy S4 ringtone?
