Sometimes I despair, I really do. Just when you think that the madness has come to some sort of logical end, someone proves you wrong. Samsung did that rather emphatically when it announced a pair of Galaxy Mega handsets that take what the company did with the Note and Note II and then, well, make it bigger.
It's no secret that Samsung likes to entertain the idea of increasingly larger displays, and with the company's Galaxy Note II already being one of the largest-screened smartphones currently available on the market, previous reports have shed light on a couple of colossal 'Galaxy Mega' handsets, which would both offer considerably more real-estate than the flagship phablet. Today, it has emerged that both of these Mega handsets could be releasing contemporaneously next month in Europe, with a 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch model further distorting the line between smartphone and slab.

News that the 32GB version would set consumers back $249 upfront may have surfaced some time ago, but today, the company has stated that the 16GB storage option version will only cost $199. Since the Galaxy S4 arrives complete with its very own microSD card slot, consumers are less likely to agonize over the decision as a prospective iPhone or HTC One buyer might, but if you do wish to opt for the smaller of the two, you can save yourself $50 in the process.
Samsung is well known for pushing the boundaries in the mobile division, never shy to pack in seemingly excessive hardware like the Galaxy S4's octa-core Exynos 5 processor. As well as continually pushing the overpowered SoCs, the Korean company also enjoys pushing the displays sizes up further and further, and although there must eventually come a point whereby the limit is reached and the screen cannot get any bigger, it doesn't look as though that time will be coming anytime soon. With the Galaxy Note II at 5.5-inches and the Galaxy S4 offering 5-inches of real estate, the latest reports suggest the company is ready to turn things up a notch with a new line of 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch 'Galaxy Mega' handsets.
In order to heighten the appeal to its flagship Galaxy S III, Samsung released the aesthetically similar, scaled-down version S III Mini late last year. Those who take a close look at a devices tech specs will have noticed that, in actuality, the similarities between the Galaxy S III and the cheaper, smaller offering end at the design and name, but that hasn't stopped the Mini from yielding strong sales since. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is now available to pre-order in the United Kingdom and naturally, the vast majority of the big retailers and carriers are on board. Available from late next month, prices naturally vary depending on which package you go with, but the takeaway is that, even on contract, the device will cost a fair bit upfront. With both Google and Apple finding great success with their respective online entertainment stores, Samsung has decided the time is right to come through with its very own, very similar offering. The iTunes App Store and more recently, Google Play, currently dominate the market, but if sources in Korea are to be believed, the nation’s largest electronics manufacturer is planning a new “Tizen” ecosystem. What’s more, the company has just launched a supplementary content portal, and wants the top 100 iPhone and Android games ready and available on it by June.
