Android 2.1 with Sense UI Leaked for HTC Hero

Moments ago, we notified you about HTC working on getting the next generation Android 2.1 on HTC Hero. And now we have been notified by an anonymous tipster that the genius folks over at XDA have already managed to run a leaked copy of Android 2.1 OS on Hero, and it is now available for download on XDA-Developers forums. This Android 2.1 Rom for Hero comes with the newer version of HTC Sense UI, specially optimized to run this version of OS.

We all heard the news about HTC Hero getting official upgrade for Android 2.0 platform. Even the official HTC twitter account confirmed this when they tweeted about this possible upgrade last month. But now it looks like HTC has better plans for its Hero owners. According the news posted by BGR, HTC is working on getting the next generation Android 2.1 upgrade for HTC Hero. This could possibly mean that the plans for getting Android 2.0 on Hero might have been abandoned all together.

Folks over at XDA-Developers have managed to hack the popular HTC Sense interface, which ships with HTC HD2, to make it compatible to run in landscape mode. One complain that you would have often heard from users running HTC Sense on Windows phones is the lack of support in landscape mode. With this hack, you can now run the popular interface in landscape mode. Its not perfect yet, and has some alignment issues, but it is still very much usable. One can expect more improvements in future releases.

Windows Mobile 6.5 (or 6.5.3) Build 28002 is out already and it finally brings a new native on-screen keyboard which is optimized for more finger friendly touch operations. Windows Mobile OEMs like HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson have already been shipping their newer handsets with skinned version of the original stylus-friendly keyboard for finger friendly navigation. But now from Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Build 28002 and onwards, Microsoft has finally updated the age old on-screen virtual keyboard that has been a feature of Windows phones since Pocket PC’s era.

Multifl0w multitasking app has finally gone Gold and is now available for download via RockApp for jailbroken iPhones. Multifl0w is an iPhone app which allows switching between applications running in background in a beautiful Palm Pre style cover flow-like mode. It basically act as a graphical extension to the already popular app from Cydia called Backgrounder to present all opened apps in a tabbed view, similar to the view seen on Mobile Safari browser.
