Redsn0w 0.9.6 is now available for Windows. You can use it to jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G on iOS 4.1. If your iPhone 3G relies on Ultrasn0w unlock, stay away from Redsn0w as it updates your baseband to the latest version, making it impossible (for now) to unlock.

Even though Chronic Dev Team hasn’t announced the tethered status for the SHAtter based GreenPois0n tool yet, but if this tweet from the well known Cydia developer is anything to go by, GreenPois0n is most likely going to be an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.1.
After showing off the demo of SHAtter exploit in action on an iPod touch 4G, the iPhone Dev-Team has now managed to jailbreak the newly released 2nd-gen Apple TV, running iOS 4.1 using SHAtter exploit loaded on PwnageTool. For those of you who don’t know, SHAtter is a low-level bootrom exploit which Apple will not be able to patch with a new firmware. Instead, they will have to introduce a revised hardware for all the current iOS devices to close the loophole. What this means is that once this jailbreak is out, all current iOS based devices will be pwned for life!
PwnageTool Bundle for jailbreaking iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) on iOS 4.2 Beta 2 has been released by msft.guy. You can use this bundle with existing version of PwnageTool to create custom firmware files which are jailbroken and hacktivated for iPhone 3GS. But as always, this bundle is meant for iPhone 3GS with old bootrom only. Those of you who are with new bootrom will have to wait for SHAtter exploit based PwnageTool or GreenPois0n jailbreak tool, both of which are expected to release soon.
Apple today has released the second Beta version of iOS 4.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This beta build, like any other iOS beta is meant for developers only. Only members enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program can access these bits of by signing into Apple Developer Connection.
After showing off the first demo of SHAtter exploit in action, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed today that this new exploit which was found by pod2g, a former team member of the Chronic Dev-Team will also work on the new Apple TV 2010. Since Apple TV also runs on iOS 4.1 (official download link), it will be interesting to see what kind of “magical” stuff can jailbreaking community achieve here.
The iPhone Dev-Team has finally shown off a video demo of iOS 4.1 jailbreak on the newly released iPod touch 4G by loading SHAtter exploit in PwnageTool (video after the break). This test version of PwnageTool however is currently for internal testing only. But it will be released later for iPhone 4 users so that they can preserve their old baseband in future for carrier unlock by restoring to the custom firmware file.
Apple has just released iTunes 10.0.1 for both Windows and Mac. This version brings a new sidebar for Ping in iTunes which makes it easier to share your favorite music with friends and family, along with tons of other bug fixes. Full change log is as follows.
I have got the new iOS 4.1 Game Center working almost perfectly on iPhone 3G, running iOS 4.1. All thanks to the latest Redsn0w 0.9.6 which makes jailbreaking possible on iPhone 3G, running iOS 4.1.
Sn0wbreeze has just been updated to version 2.0.1 to fix iTunes Error 37 which has been problematic for some iPhone 3G users when restoring to the custom firmware file. According to Deon Yeang on Redmond Pie’s facebook page, the error occurs when you are in midway of restoring to the custom cooked firmware using iTunes.
