Next iPhone Has Reportedly Gone Into Production As Foxconn Receives New Orders

Paul Paliath·March 28, 2012
It's almost that time again; work on Apple's next iPhone release is well underway, and, according to a report from a local news outlet in China, the Foxconn factory in Taiyuan wishes to hire around 20,000 employees to specifically work on the next-generation iPhone. The report notes that the factory is "urgently" in need of this massive workforce to meet demand for production. This should come as no surprise; we'll likely hear more about Foxconn factories expanding and hiring workers in preparation for the big release.

Galaxy Nexus Triumphs Over Windows Phone In Microsoft’s “Smoked By Windows Phone” Challenge

Paul Paliath·March 26, 2012
So, before I begin, let me preface this post with a little backstory: During CES, Microsoft hosted a competition called 'Smoked by Windows Phone'. Basically, the premise of it was that you would be issued a task on your smartphone, and evangelist Ben Rudolph of Microsoft would then wield a Windows Phone and try to perform that task quicker. If you lose, you would have to admit that you were 'Smoked by Windows Phone'. And, if you do beat the Windows Phone to performing the task, you'd win $1,000.

A Walkthrough Of The Windows Store Experience On Windows 8 Compared To The Mac App Store On OS X Lion

Paul Paliath·March 26, 2012
One of the more significant additions to Windows 8 (on the latest Consumer Preview build) - which is critical for the platform to succeed in the tablet space - is the Windows Store, essentially an app store where you can purchase applications for Windows, particularly Metro-style ones. Thus, in terms of functionality, it's pretty much like a combination of the iOS and Mac App Stores. But, in usability and design, it does have its differences.

Report: Next iPhone To Feature 4.6-inch Retina Display?

Paul Paliath·March 22, 2012
We could probably create a 'law' - along the lines of Godwin's law or Murphy's law - that states that with every iPhone release, there will be multiple rumors about it being designed with a larger screen. Of course, the upcoming, next-generation iPhone is no exception. Reuters has covered a rumor stemming from South Korean publication the Maeil Business Newspaper, which states that the next iPhone will have a 4.6" Retina Display screen.

Paul Paliath·March 21, 2012

Sparrow Email App For iPhone Available Now On The App Store

Paul Paliath·March 15, 2012
If you've been seeking an alternative to Mail.app -- the default iOS mail client -- then look no further; the popular Mac email client Sparrow has hit the App Store, and is now available on the iPhone and iPod touch. What's interesting is how people often haven't really gone out of their way to find an alternative for Mail.app; it's strange in some ways that a default, bundled app is the most commonly used email app on iOS considering the vast third-party marketplace. Perhaps Sparrow might just be the app to put a dent into its use.
