The iOS 7 lock screen clock is elegant, minimal, and does exactly what it needs to, and while the smaller status bar clock will serve you well throughout the rest of iOS, it is, in every sense of the phrase, not really much to look at. A neat little iWidgets-based tweak called SevenClock brings the famed lock screen clock to the home screen, and if you're a fan of minimalism as we are, this tweak will greatly accentuate the look you're striving for.

The jailbreak scene is awash with great tweaks, but even though we see, on a daily basis, just what can happen when creative minds are given a license to dig deeper into the iOS firmware, there remains a small, exclusive group of Cydia entries that stand head-and-shoulders above the rest. Along with BiteSMS, which only recently made its début for iOS 7, IntelliScreenX is rightly considered by many to be among the very best in the business, and now, developer Intelliborn has begun teasing an iOS 7-ready version for iPhone, which is IntelliScreenX 7. The beta is almost ready for prime time, but for the moment, we have a video and some screenshots to salivate over, which you can check out after the break!
The Touch ID feature of the iPhone 5s has proved hugely successful so far. Sure, the introduction of the gold model of Apple's latest and greatest probably upstaged the new fingerprint sensor, but in offering better security while also adding to the perceived "cool" factor of the iconic handset, Touch ID has certainly gone down well. According to the guys over at AppleInsider, the Cupertino company is set to step up the feature's functionality by means of a forthcoming software update, which will render Touch ID better able to recognize fingerprints whilst also taking care of a "fade" issue that has hit some users.
As a result of an infringement suit with BSkyB, Microsoft was recently forced to change the name of its SkyDrive service to OneDrive. With this new branding, Microsoft has been on the campaign trail of promotion, and today, has offered what looks, at least initially, to be a pretty sweet deal. OneDrive users can capitalize on the opportunity to grab 100GB of cloud storage space for free, but there are, as ever, a couple of conditions to the offer, which we shall reveal after the jump.
With the likes of the Apple iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S5 now offering fingerprint sensors, the smartphone industry has become increasingly sci-fi - a tad more James Bond, if you like - in recent times. But for a truly secure experience, one would need much more than these emerging, albeit reliable implementations, and this is where airplane maker Boeing steps in, with a smartphone offering the kind of robust security features that only a government agency - or indeed, a government agent - would require.
Google is always looking to innovate, and with the likes of Project Glass well established and Project Tango looking promising indeed, it now looks like the company's Project Ara range of smartphones could arrive to the market early next year. With prices touted as low as $50, Project Ara, which is looking to forge something of a build-your-own-smartphone market with devices comprised of interchangeable bits of hardware, is weeks away from its first functional prototype, and sales may begin as soon as Q1 2015.
Not to be upstaged by the big Samsung announcement at this year's MWC, Sony has also come through with its latest and greatest new smartphone – the Sony Xperia Z2. Another waterproof handset, it shares similar design traits to its predecessor, but in terms of both the hardware and software, the Japanese company looks to have been hard at work. I got a chance to spend a few minutes with the device in Barcelona, and as well as a hands-on video below, I'll be letting you know what I think of this most recent addition to the Xperia family, and moreover, whether it can serve as a genuine competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
