Apple’s Next iPad Magic Keyboard Will Be More Like A Laptop Than Ever

Apple is rumored to be working on a new OLED iPad Pro for launch in 2024 and that’s expected to come with an all-new Magic Keyboard. Now, a new report claims that the new keyboard will also look more like a laptop thanks to a new design.

That report comes via Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman who says that the new keyboard will be made from aluminum.

Writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman says that a sturdier construction is to be expected when compared to older, more flimsy models.

The new approach will make the accessory feel more like a premium product, with the Mac’s aesthetic. The switch to aluminum also gives the keyboard a sturdier structure: The older, flimsier version was prone to bending and even tearing at the edges. I’m told that, when closed, the exterior shell of the Magic Keyboard will retain the cover material of the current model. It will also continue to have one USB-C port.

The current Magic Keyboard already sells for an eyewatering $299, but Gurman believes that it could see a price hike due to the change in materials.

That would surely be a hard sell, even for an accessory that will no doubt pair with what is going to be the best iPad ever. The new iPad Pro is set to have an M3 chip, new OLED display, and up to 4TB of storage depending on which rumors you believe.
