Apple Will Release USB-C Mac Accessories In Spring 2024, Leak Claims

There was the expectation that Apple would announce new USB-C Mac accessories alongside the M3 24-inch iMac that was released recently, but that didn’t happen.

And with Apple needing to ditch Lightning and switch to USB-C before the end of 2024 to keep the EU happy, time is starting to run out. Now, a new leak claims that the change will happen in the spring of next year.

That leak comes via a Weibo leaker called Instant Digital, with MacRumors picking up the news and sharing the details.

According to the report, we can expect that Apple will announce new USB-C Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad offerings in the spring. However, there are still plenty of questions to be asked surrounding this news.

The main question is whether this will be anything more than a change in ports for accessories that have largely remained unchanged for years. The last time that any of these accessories got any love was back in 2021 with Apple adding a Touch ID sensor to the Magic Keyboard.

In terms of the Magic Mouse, there have been various patents that have pointed to the mouse gaining a new Force Touch sensor like the Magic Trackpad, but it remains to be seen if that’s what we get next spring. It’s also possible that we will see new colors unveiled, but that seems more unlikely at this point.
