Apple Releases tvOS 16.4.1 And HomePod Software 16.4.1 To The Public

Apple has today released tvOS 16.4.1 and HomePod Software 16.4.1 to the public which means that Apple TV and HomePod owners can now download them.

There are no release notes for the tvOS 16.4.1 update as is the norm for Apple, but we expect it to include minor changes that are likely to be security or bug fixes rather than new features.

In terms of the HomePod and HomePod mini devices, that’s exactly what Apple’s release notes say that users should expect from these updates. There are no new features for people to test.

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t install the updates, however, and if you have automatic updates enabled it’s possible that they have already been downloaded and applied. The tvOS 16.4.1 update can be found in the Settings app under System > Software Update, while the HomePod updates are available via the Home app.

These are likely to be among the last rounds of updates before Apple announces what’s coming next at its WWDC event in June.

That’s also where Apple will announce the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch software updates alongside the latest version of macOS. All of those updates should get developer betas on the day of the announcement, but the public releases are unlikely to arrive before September.

September will be a busy period for Apple with the iPhone 15 series and new Apple Watches also likely to be revealed.
