Android is Now the Number 1 Selling Smartphone OS in United States

Android

The stats which NDP Group came up with shows that:

  • Android has 33 percent market share
  • RIM (Blackberry) has 28 percent market share
  • Apple (iPhone) has 22 percent market share

The fact that Android is gaining momentum this fast isn’t too surprising. Android is like Windows of smartphone world. Any manufacturer can put it on any device they like. Since there is no real competitor of Android in the open mobile space (Windows Mobile 6.x is kind of dead, Windows Phone 7 isn't out yet), and all those new improvements which Google has made in the Android 2.x releases, it is not surprising to see Android getting on the top step this fast. It will be interesting to see how well these Android devices sell once Microsoft releases Windows Phone 7 later this year. [via Mashable]
