Amazon Launches Metal Version Of Its Fire HD 10 Tablet

Amazon has made a new version of its Fire HD 10 tablet that aims to give users more perceived value for money by looking and feeling a lot more premium than previous versions. The company’s range of Fire HD 10 tablets has consistently proven to be extremely popular with consumers looking for a relatively cost-effective, but still highly performant slate solution that offers access to popular apps and services.

Running the Fire OS, which is essentially a customized version of Android, the Fire HD 10 range seems to tick all of those boxes for consumers. Now, rather than having to purchase the Fire HD 10 with a cheap feeling plastic finish, Amazon is adding a new version with a silver metal finish to the lineup.

One of the great things about this addition to the range is that it doesn’t actually cost any more over the plastic-built Fire HD 10. Consumers are still able to choose from the White or Black colored plastic versions of the tablet, or can now try out this new Silver Aluminum finish starting from $229.99 for the entry-level 16GB model.

For the uninitiated, the Fire HD 10 carries a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 display, offering a 149 pixels per inch density. It’s not exactly the most vivid and beautiful screens you will see on a tablet, but unless you move up to much higher price points then it’s one of the best that you’ll get in this budget. Amazon is fairly adamant that it’s a perfect addition for consuming video-based media and content.

Under-the-hood, purchasers are provided with a quad-core processor, a stereo speaker system that bring a really impressive audio experience to the tablet, and a microSD card slot that allows the internal storage to be expanded up to 128GB if desired. The battery life on a device of this nature is extremely important due to the fact that Amazon envisages users using it for media consumption through services like Amazon Video and Netflix. To that end, the Fire HD 10 promises to bring up to 8 hours of up time before it would need a full charge to bring it back to life.

In addition to introducing the new Silver Aluminum finish, Amazon has also updated this particular offering of the Fire HD 10 with a higher storage capacity at 64GB in addition to the 16GB and 32GB option. The 64GB model (only available in Silver Aluminum) is available to purchase right now from Amazon, for $289.99.
