First tvOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 RC Download Now Available

Apple has today made its tvOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 Release Candidate (RC) updates available to developers, marking what is likely the last beta version ahead of the final version that will be released to the public.

All of these new software updates have been in beta testing ever since they were announced during June’s WWDC opening keynote, including both developer and public beta testing groups.

These software updates have been in development alongside similar software refreshes for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

All of these updates are now available for download by developers and public beta testers and, assuming no further issues are identified, will likely be the same software that is released to the public.

tvOS 27

Apple’s tvOS 27 software update isn’t set to bring any big new features to the Apple TV. Instead, this update focuses on improving performance. There are some tweaks, however, including support for Hi-Res Lossless (24-bit/192kHz) for Apple Music. A redesigned Podcasts app is also present. While there is no Siri AI support, that is likely to be part of the tvOS 27 experience on the much-rumored new Apple TV 4K hardware when it launches later this year.

watchOS 27

The watchOS 27 update is coming to Apple Watches and brings the new Siri AI feature to the wrist. A new dynamic app grid is set to make it possible to find the app that you want more quickly. A single one-handed tap gesture will open the Smart Stack widget, while the Wallet app will allow users to create custom passes for memberships and cards. Other smaller tweaks to the tvOS interface can also be found.

visionOS 27

visionOS 27 brings a major leap in spatial computing with Siri AI, Visual Intelligence, next-generation Apple Intelligence, spatial panoramas, Personal Environments, and the ability to turn panoramas into immersive spatial scenes, among other changes.

All of these new software updates are set to be released to the public this month, with Apple potentially using a second RC release to iron out any issues found in this first version.
