Xbox One X: Is Microsoft’s True 4K Gaming Console Worth Getting? [Video]

It is the 2017 holiday season and Microsoft has released a new version of their Xbox One console known as the Xbox One X.

Similar to the design of 2016 Xbox One S, the One X is smaller and compact compared to the original One model launched in 2013 that looked like an ancient VCR. Though Xbox One X weighs considerably more than One S due to the advanced liquid vapor cooling chamber packed inside the same chassis.

Xbox One X packs a lot inside with an 8-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz, 12GB of GDDR5 RAM, 6 teraflops of graphical computing power, 8GB flash memory, and 1TB of hard drive internal storage. With all this power, the Xbox One X brings you true native 4K+HDR gaming when used with One X Enhanced games, 4K Blu-ray movies in Ultra HD and HDR quality, and 4K+HDR video streaming from Netflix, Amazon, and more.

Of course, to experience the full potential of the X, you will need a 4K+HDR compatible TV, but even if you have a 1080p TV, games will be optimized and upscaled to get a better experience when gaming including better graphics, higher frame rates and faster load times.

The Xbox One X supports all existing Xbox One games as well as all existing Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles for Xbox One. If you have been a Xbox user since the beginning, the Xbox One X also supports select original Xbox games. Speaking about compatibility, all accessories from your previous Xbox One console will work with the latest Xbox One X as well.

With all that power and compatibility, there’s a lot going in favor of the Xbox One X. There’s no doubt that this new console is the most powerful gaming console you can buy at the moment, beating even the power of Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro.

I picked one up, the special limited Project Scorpio edition of Xbox One X that is, and have been using it for about two weeks. I have made a video about it to try and answer whether or not you should buy this one over the previous ~$200 Xbox One S/Xbox One or even $399 PS4 Pro. Check out the video below:

So, is Xbox One X worth getting? Well if you are a hardcore gamer and want the absolute powerful gaming console on the market, then yes it is. You can pick one up today for $499 if you like. However if you think the cheaper Xbox One S is better suited for your needs, you can get it at half the price for approximately ~$200. Sony’s PS4 Pro, which is the closest in terms of power to Xbox One X, can be bought for $100 cheaper at around ~$399.

Buy: Xbox One X from Amazon: $499
Buy: Xbox One S from Amazon: ~$200
Buy: PS4 Pro from Amazon: $399
