Tesla Might Launch Its Robotaxi Service On June 12

According to a report from Bloomberg, Tesla is planning to launch its Robotaxi service on June 12 in Austin, Texas. The date isn’t final yet, but it’s the one Tesla is currently working toward.

At first, the service will only be available to Tesla employees. This gives the company a chance to test things out and fix any problems before letting the public use it. If everything goes well, regular people might get access to Robotaxi rides by late June or early July.

This early launch is a bit of a surprise. Tesla usually takes extra time to polish things before going live. For example, the big Robotaxi event was first planned for August but got pushed back to October. So starting something in June could mean things are looking good.

Right now, Tesla is already testing these self-driving cars. Some cars are using Tesla’s FSD (Full Self-Driving) Unsupervised mode. This means the car drives itself without anyone touching the controls. There’s still a test engineer in the passenger seat, just in case, but they haven’t needed to step in.

The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has also reached out to Tesla to ask how the cars will handle tough situations, like bad weather. This is a good sign that Tesla is working closely with safety officials to make sure everything is ready.

For now, testing is happening in Austin and Los Angeles, mostly with small groups of employees. But if things go well, we could see Tesla’s Robotaxi service open to the public very soon.

So, if you’re in Austin, keep your eyes peeled. The future of getting around might just roll up to your curb this summer!
