Apple has released 'Apple Events' app for Apple TV 4 on the tvOS App Store. The underlying channel that sits behind the app affords viewers with the ability to watch the live stream for this upcoming, and presumably all future, Apple media events.
As we approach Apple's March 21 Spring 2016 event, a new photo has emerged that not only claims to show the official packaging for the iPhone SE, but also potentially confirms a number of talking points about the hardware. The image itself has been shared into the public domain via Chinese social media site Weibo, and contains text that pretty much confirms that the hardware will be branded "iPhone SE" and will allow the use of Apple Pay, as well as ship with a base 16GB storage option.
Apple has released a new statement ahead of its March 22 court date. The newly released statement is the final scheduled brief by Apple before their court appearance later this month, which will see Tim Cook's company visit a federal court in California to determine whether or not the company is required to assist the FBI - as per a court order - with the ongoing investigations into the San Bernardino shooting incident which took place late last year.
Google has released a new set of design guidelines that could see popular Android apps start to look a little more like they were designed with iOS in mind. Google's updated Android design guidelines now suggest that developers should, where suited, use the bottom of the screen in order to show buttons that allow the user to navigate through different parts of the app instead of hamburger menu.
Apple's design head Jony Ive has given a rare television interview, with Charlie Rose once again being chosen as the man to ask the questions after a similar interview was carried out last year.
Apple has now officially confirmed that the rumored March 21st event will be taken place as expected, so now, as is usually the case at this time of year, it's time once again to focus on the next-generation iPhone which will be released this fall. Following on from a preview of what was believed to be the first third-party case manufactured for the iPhone 7 last week, we're now seeing a number of additional leaks, one of which purports to show a technical drawing of the chassis that gives additional insight into the structure of the iPhone 7.
You know things are getting a little serious between your company and the government when the President of the United States, who is essentially the most powerful leader in the world, addresses your ongoing encryption case, albeit it in a very indirect and diplomatic manner. United States President Barack Obama speaking at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Texas, indirectly addressed the Apple vs FBI encryption case that has gripped the technology and wider community over the last month or so.
A new DOJ filing is essentially threatening to force Apple to hand over its iOS source code and digital signature to the FBI, allowing the agency to create its own bespoke version of iOS.
As we could have probably predicted, things between Apple and the FBI are starting to turn a little sour as part of the run-up to the March 22 hearing. Prosecutors involved in the case have filed a third motion, that once again attempts to convince Apple to go through the necessary processes involved in breaking encryption on the iPhone that was used as part of last year's San Bernardino shooting in California. Apple, as you might expect, isn't exactly pleased with not only the recent motion, but also the wording and terminology used within that filing.
