Renders Of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 Leaked, August Announcement Rumored

New leaks appear to show the Galaxy Note 7 in our best glimpse of the device yet, with the prolific Steve Hemmerstoffer of @OnLeaks treating us to not just one leak, but two.

The first of those is a short video that, it is claimed, shows the Galaxy Note 7 in what is believed will be an Edge design, with Samsung’s now-familiar curved screen looking as gorgeous as ever. The second leak is a more detailed look at the handset via renders based on its alleged blueprints, although it is noted in a lengthy blog post that there is currently no confirmation as to exactly which version of the Note is depicted in the leaked images.

Rumors surrounding Samsung’s next Galaxy Note release are nothing new, with the most prominent being that the company is set to ditch the Galaxy Note 6 name this year and instead skip straight to the Galaxy Note 7 moniker.

The reasoning is sound, with Samsung said to want to streamline its product naming conventions in an attempt to make the generations less confusing for customers. With the Galaxy S7 currently on sale, it makes plenty of sense for the Galaxy Note to also carry the number 7 alongside it.

One thing that is clear from the leaks is the inclusion of a USB-C port on the device, meaning this will be another high-profile handset to make the jump to the reversible USB format that has somewhat struggled for traction recently. Micro-USB has served the planet well for years, but it’s time it was put out to pasture for good.

We don’t yet know for sure when the new Galaxy Note – whatever it may be called – will be officially announced, though Evan Blass of @evleaks believes the announcement is a mere two months away. Regardless, there is every possibility that things will change between now and then, so we wouldn’t want to be guarantying that the latest round of leaks should be trusted completely. That being said, with the source being historically reliable, we wouldn’t bet against it either.
