Pokemon Go 1.9.0 For iOS, 0.39.0 For Android Download Released, Here’s What Is New

Great news Pokemon Trainers! Pokemon Go 1.9.0 for iOS and 0.39.0 for Android APK download are now being rolled out to app stores globally. Here’s what is new in this update.

This latest update follows hot on the heels of the previous update by Niantic, which not only included the fantastic Buddy Pokémon feature, but also a number of stability enhancements that ensured a pleasurable experience when using the Pokémon Go Plus wearable accessory.

With these latest changes, Niantic continues to push out improvements for those Pokémon Go gamers who are hardcore enough to purchase the Pokémon Go Plus wearable that alerts owners of nearby Pokémon and PokeStops. Version 1.7.1 for iOS and version 0.37.1 for Android ensured that Plus owners had a stable experience when the hardware was connected. This latest version introduces the ability for Trainers to attempt to capture Pokémon that they encounter when using Incense via the Pokémon Go Plus accessory.

The above inclusion is probably the biggest change with this latest version of the game, but it’s definitely not the only one. Niantic has also introduced a new capture location feature that is more of a user-interface enhancement than the actual addition of interactive functionality.

Now, when a Pokémon is viewed and its information screen is interacted with, Trainers can instantly see where that particular Pokémon was caught. A nice enhancement which will undoubtedly take Trainers down memory lane, but not exactly the groundbreaking feature that will keep gamers coming back for more.

If you take those two notable additions out of the equation, then you’re left with an update for iOS and Android that looks to try and introduce a number of important bug fixes to make the experience a more pleasurable, and less troublesome, one for all involved. Niantic are also teasing Trainers with the promise that “some exciting features and changes” will be coming to Pokémon Go very soon.

Let’s hope one of those exciting changes is the introduction of the Apple Watch app sooner rather than later. After all, who doesn’t want to use their Apple Watch to see an egg hatch or be alerted in real-time when a Pokémon is nearby?

Pokemon Go 1.9.0 for iOS and 0.39.0 for Android are available to download from App Store and Play Store respectively. It’s important to note here that the new update is still propagating through the app stores worldwide. If you don’t immediately see the update in the app store of your choice, try again a bit later.
